Rangiku es una atractiva mujer con largo cabello ondulado y anaranjado (corto en su juventud y rubio cobrizo en la versión anime). Sus ojos son color azul hielo. Pero sus características físicas más distintivas son sus grandes pechos, que son incluso mayores que los de Orihime Inoue. Ella también comparte el extraño gusto de Orihime sobre el sabor en los alimentos. Rangiku viste en el atuendo típico de los shinigami, aunque deja sus ropas lo suficientemente sueltas para mostrar un amplio escote y lucir su busto. Ella siempre lleva un collar y un pañuelo o bufanda color rosa sobre sus hombros y brazos.

Rangiku tiende a ser una holgazana que no le gusta el papeleo y le gusta (le encanta mejor dicho) beber sake. No es para nada modesta con su apariencia, siempre está comparando o quejándose sobre sus grandes pechos en conversaciones informales. Conciente de su hermosura, incluso intenta sobornar a Kurosaki Ichigo para que la dejase quedarse en su casa utilizando su busto, aunque sin éxito. Su espíritu despreocupado, su libre y animada personalidad está en agudo contraste con la personalidad de su superior, Hitsugaya, pero los dos parecen llevarse muy bien, con cierta dependencia entre sí. Rangiku esta casi constantemente a su lado y ha demostrado su lealtad a él en varias ocasiones. Si bien parece un poco egocéntrica, al parecer es muy sensible a los sentimientos de los demás, esto se hace evidente cuando ella nota la preocupación de Hitsugaya sobre Momo Hinamori, la culpabilidad de Izuru Kira que comparte con ella cuando Gin Ichimaru se revela como un traidor, y cuando se acerca a Orihime cuando estaba deprimida acerca de su papel en la vida de Ichigo Kurosaki. A pesar de su imagen despreocupada, Matsumoto puede ser muy seria cuando es necesario. A veces muestra ser algo maternal, especialmente con Orihime y Momo Hinamori. Algunos le vinculan sentimentalmente con Ichimaru Gin y con su capitán aunque eso no está comprobado por el momento.

Hitsugaya, niño prodigio. No solo tiene el mérito de ser un shinigami, sino que es el capitán de la décima división de los shinigami, habiéndolo logrado en tiempo record. Su apariencia es la de un chico de 13 o 14 años, siendo fácilmente confundido por un niño de primaria, a pesar de tener por lo menos 50 años, de estatura baja, pelo blanco, largo y de punta con pequeño fleco al lado izquierdo y de ojos color turquesa.

Su haori de Capitán es simple y no ha sido modificado por él, destaca por llevar su Zanpakutô a la espalda sujeta por una cinta, otra de las características bastante llamativa de su Zanpakutô es que tiene una estrella en la empuñadura.

A pesar de su apariencia Hitsugaya es maduro, extremadamente serio , responsable, justo, cascarrabias y muy astuto para su apariencia, es el primero en dar muestras de sus sospechas sobre el Capitán y el Teniente de la División 3, Ichimaru Gin e Izuru Kira, respectivamente.

Momo Hinamori es al parecer la persona más importante que Hitsugaya tiene, eran amigos desde la infancia y vivían juntos en el Rukongai. Por ella no duda en sacrificar su vida si es necesario. Algunos fans le relacionan sentimentalmente con ella, sin embargo, aun si eso no está asegurado, es notable el afecto que tiene por ella.

                                        Ulquiorra Schiffer (ウルキオラ・シファー Urukiora Shifā^?, romanized as Ulquiorra Cifer in the Japanese media) is the Cuarto Espada, signified by the "4" tattooed to his chest. His name stems from that of a furniture designer named Patricia Urquiola.^[14] As the Espada whose aspect of death represents emptiness, he has a largely stoic appearance and rarely even changes his expression. This lack of feeling explains his inability to comprehend the meaning of "heart" and supports his firm belief that what his eye cannot see does not exist. Bent on completing tasks set to him by Sōsuke Aizen, Ulquiorra has no qualms about attacking his own allies if they impede his intent and deems anyone he finds not to be of particular interest to be "trash," and therefore expendable.^[31] The remainder of Ulquiorra's Hollow mask forms a broken helmet with a curved horn and covers the left half of his head. His Hollow hole has moved since his first appearance; when first introduced it is at the base of his neck,^[32] but in later appearances, it is centered just below his collarbone.^[33]

Grimmjow Jeagerjaques notes that Ulquiorra tends to stab opponents in the same location as his Hollow hole whenever he is particularly interested in a battle, though it is unclear if Ulquiorra is conscious of this habit.^[34] He is very analytical: he almost accurately theorizes the means behind Orihime Inoue's abilities, and recognizes that Ichigo Kurosaki's power constantly fluctuates between very weak to greater than his own strength.^[35] He also refrains from killing a person unless necessary, twice sparing Ichigo and proclaiming he would not harm Orihime because he had not been ordered to. He can replay events he has seen to others by removing and crushing his left eye, which turns into dust and flows around those to whom Ulquiorra is relaying information .^[36] While other Hollows traded defensive abilities for raw strength upon becoming Arrancars, Ulquiorra chose not to, and boasts that he is the only Espada who possesses high-speed regeneration abilities.^[37]

When released, his zanpakutō, Murciélago (黒翼大魔 (ムルシエラゴ) Murushierago^?, Spanish for "Bat," kanji translates as "Giant Black-winged Demon") creates two large black wings on his back. His Hollow helmet is complete and sports two large horns, while his Arrancar uniform appears more form-fitting at the top, becoming robe-like towards the bottom.^[38] Additionally, Ulquiorra is apparently unique among the Espadas in that he has a second release, Resurrección Segunda Etapa (Spanish for "Resurrection Second Stage").^[39] He becomes more muscular with clawed hands and feet, his sclera turn green, and his helmet is replaced with elongated horns. Black fur covers Ulquiorra's arms and legs from the hip down, he gains a long thin prehensile tail, and gains markings similar to blood flowing freely from his Hollow hole. His second release is said to be secret to everybody, even Aizen.^[40] In both forms he can create long "lances" of energy calledLanza del Relámpago (雷霆の 槍 (ラソサ・デル・レランパーゴ) Ransa deru Reranpāgo^?, Spanish for "Spear of Lightning"), which, when thrown, can cause immense explosions that dwarf even the massive dome of Las Noches.^[41] Ulquiorra seems unfamiliar with the technique when he uses it in his second release state, unexpectedly missing Ichigo with his first one; to compensate, he can produce more should his first miss the target.^[42]

Ulquiorra is one of the first Arrancars to be introduced, appearing alongside Yammy Riyalgo in the real world on Aizen's orders to seek out Ichigo. The pair leaves without killing him when Ulquiorra sees Ichigo's current strength as no threat to Aizen. He does, however, remark that he is concerned over Ichigo's growth potential, stating that if he should pose a threat, then he would kill Ichigo himself. He later kidnaps Orihime for Aizen, serving as her jailer and forcing her to remain alive for Aizen's use. When Ichigo leads his group to Las Noches, Ulquiorra confronts Ichigo and provokes him into fighting. He easily withstands and defeats Ichigo's Hollow form, then leaves Ichigo for dead. Much later, after escaping imprisonment by the Espada Grimmjow's Caja de Negación, Ulquiorra engages Ichigo in another battle that ends in Ulquiorra's defeat. Mortally wounded by Ichigo's second Hollow state, Ulquiorra asks Ichigo to finish him off, but Ichigo refuses.^[43] As he dies, Ulquiorra comes to understand the meaning of "heart" when an unafraid Orihime reaches out to him as his body dissolves into the wind.^[44] He is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in Japanese and Tony Oliver in English
